We have in stock quite a number of old bridge and wharf sections, railway sleepers, etc. that have been removed from their original structures.
As an alternative to recycled products, we also have new, reclaimed timbers that will give a similar look, but being far more sustainable.
With an ever increasing demand for sustainable timbers and an ever decreasing supply of 'recycled' timbers, we are now finding that many of our old heritage buildings, that contain many years of the country's fabulous history, are now being torn down for their recyclable value.
With a finite number of these old sites left in our cities, each one lost is never replaceable. By specifying "recycled" product in the name of sustainability is a false and erroneous action.
We believe a far better approach is to use 'reclaimed' timbers which are 'new' timbers that were earmarked for low grade products (such as pallets, sleeper, fencing, firewood, woodchip, etc.) and upgrading for more practical and sustainable use, thereby value adding the product and lessening the demand on higher grade timbers. This contributes to better use of our forest resources which are, in fact, among the most sustainable managed forests in the world and giving all of our forest products the real value that they deserve.
