Australia has some of the world's best managed forests and our collective governments ensure that for every tree that is cut down, many more are planted. Not only are we re-planting at a greater rate than we are cutting, the younger actively growing trees contribute a far greater amount of Co2 conversion (to oxygen) than older more mature trees.
By utilizing and replanting diversely mixed native forests rather than planting biomasses of single species plantations, our native fauna are also looked after. A mixed species forest that is indigenous to the area will cater for a wider range of the local fauna than any plantation timber from any other area ever can.
With only 17% of Australia's total forest being available for harvesting less than 1.5% of that is cut in any one year. The rest of our forests are locked away in forest reserves and national parks for future generations to admire and enjoy and all our native forests have a healthy future.
